This year's contest attracted 1900 entries. 550 stories made it to the long list, of which 145 remain on the short list, including Sarah Towle's The Last Testament, and Will, of Charlotte Corday, the short story version of her StoryApp, Beware Mme la Guillotine. The story was also shortlisted in the 2011 Paris Writers' News Short Story Contest.

Readers are saying:
"Enchanting and so gritty real at the same time...Socked me in the gut...Captivating and magically done...Intense...So many layers and each so perfect...Haunting and beautiful...Unique...Compelling...Gut-wrenching, not sure of the turn it might take...Tears filled my eyes at the ending. Sweet and sublime..."
