Normal again

Sometimes I just want
To feel normal again
So I can feel my eyes
Laugh again
And my voice
Rise and roar
 
Sometimes I just want
To forget the taste
Of ground-up pills
And the plastic touch
Of doctors’ gloves
 
So I spread my arms
Like feathered wings
Until I feel
So much better
And stronger
Than normal
 
Until I feel alive
