Claudia Snow Classon’s short story,  “Compelling and Believable (or What I Learned in Sophomore English),” will be published in the first issue of the new online literary magazine for young adult fiction, Sucker Literary Mazagine.
http://suckerliterarymagazine.wordpress.com.
Sucker’s founder, publisher, and editor Hannah Goodman, decided to launch her magazine out of her own frustration as an author unable to find any literary journals publishing short fiction for teens.  Her mission is to give “…raw, undiscovered, talented writers for young adults the opportunity to strut their stuff.”

“Compelling and Believable” is a story about what happens when a tormented teen takes a teacher’s lessons a bit too literally.

Sucker’s inaugural issue is expected early in 2012.

Sarah Towle

Sarah Towle had a lot to crow about this month: Her Kickstarter campaign, to raise funds and consciousness for the French-English bilingual version of her interactive StoryApp itinerary, Beware Mme La Guillotine: A Revolutionary Tour of Paris, concluded on 14 Sept 120% funded. The campaign met its final goal of $5k with 4 days still left to go! Thanks to all who contributed, liked, applauded and otherwise contributed to this achievement.Sarah stumbled upon more good news while surfing the net just the other day, proving that when word gets out about our great projects, you never know where it's going to turn up!

Candy Dahl at the Highlights Foundation's Whole Novel Retreat

Candy Dahl will be the teaching assistant at the Highlights Foundation's Whole Novel Retreat in Honesdale, PA, featuring Carolyn Coman and Stephen Roxburgh, from October 16-23. She hopes to blog on Swinging In the Grapevine Swing (candydahl.blogspot.com) about the experience and offer general tidbits regarding the writer's craft to be gleaned from workshopping manuscripts and hearing talks from Carolyn and Stephen on various aspects of novel writing.
